Whatever your idea, we will make it a reality

Here at CPF, we specialize in custom stonework and stonemasonry features for your home or commercial space. We also offer design and conceptual drawings for your upcoming projects. Below you will find some of our recent custom stonework in Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park and Agoura Hills.

Rubble masonry and ashlar masonry

Custom stonework, also known as stonemasonry, has been around since the human race first began using tools. Stonework can be divided into two main category types: rubble masonry and ashlar masonry. Rubble masonry is the art of using roughly dressed stones and mortar, whereas ashlar masonry is that of using cut — neatly dressed — stones and mortar to build features.

Some of the features you will commonly find are stone walkways, retaining walls, garden walls and stone veneer. Stone veneer is a beautiful alternative to traditional siding on a home: it can drastically improve the home's aesthetic character for a reasonably low investment of time and money.

We at CPF have hundreds of jobs under our belts for each type of stonework. Pat Flaherty, founder of CPF Masonry, has been driving stonemasonry projects of all sizes from concept to completion in Southern California since 1991, and is your go-to resource for your next project.

Where stone meets everything else

Very little stonework stands on its own. A stone-faced retaining wall is holding back real earth and needs the footing and drainage of a structural wall; sidewalk and driveway features get poured with the concrete work. The Dos Vientos Villa project is most of this page in one address.

Owner supervised, fully insured

Stonework is judged at arm's length for the life of the house — the joints and the stone selection are the craft, and neither is recoverable after the mortar sets. Each project is owner supervised, and CPF is licensed, insured and bonded under C-29 masonry and C-8 concrete.
